Poppy's Cottage is a restored simple workman's cottage set in beautiful gardens on the outskirts of the city of Mt Gambier. Your cottage has traditional features including some antique furnishings, fresh flowers, log fire together with modern comforts like reverse cycle air-conditioning. The country style kitchen is well equipped and, for longer stays, there is a laundry. Take a wicker basket and stroll the gardens - pick some fruit or nuts in season or flowers all year around. Or take time to explore the Blue Lake City and beyond. You are within a few minutes of the City of Mt Gambier and the famous volcanic craters, limestone caves. Sinkholes, majestic pine forests and historic ports are a short drive away. It is less than an hour to the famous Coonawarra wine region. A superb place to lose yourself. Strict cancellation policies apply. Cancellation notified more than 28 days prior to the booking will incur a $30 (incl. GST) cancellation fee. Cancellation notified 28 days or less and more than 14 days prior to departure will forfeit the full deposit or 50% of the total booking whichever is less. Cancellation less than 14 days prior to the booking will forfeit all monies paid. Any other changes to booking dates will incur a $30 amendment fee. No changes may be made less than 14 days prior to the booking arrival date. The administration fee on refunds is AU$30.00

Getting There:

Poppy's Cottage is on Tarrant Road, Moorak, just out of Mt Gambier. From the main city centre take Bay Road up past the Blue Lake and on towards Port MacDonnell. 3.3 km from the round-a-bout turn right into Tarrant Road. Your cottage is the 4th house 700 m on your right ? drive in next to the poplar trees.

Cleanliness		The cottage was clean and fresh, but there was a bit of an odd smell throughout. breakfast was sparse - there was cereal and toast but no jam. the cottage itself was quaint and nicely fitted and overall we had a very good stay. kirby, Australia Monday, 18 Jan 2010 place Management Response Glad you had a good stay at Poppy's Cottage. As this is a budget accommodation, provisions are left for a basic continental breakfast - we find most guests are more than happy with this. We apologise if the jam was inadvertently left out when setting up the cottage for you. Not sure about the "odd smell" - have had friends drop in and they can not pick anything! Cleanliness		Great location but some aspects of the stay were a disappointment. Generally smelled a bit damp and some kitchen cupboards needed a good clean. Net curtains everywhere were dirty and spoiled the view; no-one overlooks the house! Fixtures and fittings worked OK but felt a bit random and dated. Having the bathroom in one of the bedrooms was a bit of a pain; would have been good to know this in advance. Not a bad place to stay but could be so much better.
